Improving primary health services in Kiremba Health District
AREA OF INTERVENTION
Ngozi Province, Health district of Kiremba
OBJECTIVE
Contribute to improve the health status of the vulnerable population by intervening directly in the quality of primary health services provided by the Health Centres (HCs).
MMI ACTIVITIES
- Organisation and recognition of the Kiremba Hospital as a training centre for which training programmes will be planned, with subsequent approval by the District.
- Training courses for doctors in Kiremba District, hospitals and in service in the District, by experienced Italian doctors on short missions, aimed at updating skills and preparing drop-in training for CoS operators.
- Training courses for CoS health workers on: malnutrition, family planning, antenatal consultations, pregnancy pathologies, childbirth assistance and obstetric emergencies, resuscitation and neonatal care, paediatric anaemia, compulsory vaccinations, HIV and malaria screening, severe malaria case management, pneumopathies, etc.
- Follow-up and supervision of the work of the health staff of the CoS to verify the implementation of the skills acquired.
- Providing medical equipment, installing water tanks and repairing toilets in the CoSs.
- Renovating and equipping of first aid and maternal, neonatal and paediatric care services
- Purchasing and equipping of an ambulance to improve transfer conditions and speed up the connection between the CoS and the hospital, in order to effectively take care of critically ill patients.
- Training of District administrators in health administrative management and financial and logistical aspects.

- 20 Health Centres to improve the quality of healthcare,
- 234 trained health workers from the Kiremba district,
- 24 office workers,
- 4,500 patients reported by CdS to Distrectual Hospital,
