AREA OF INTERVENTION

DIRE - Right to a Name, Civil Registration, and Resilience in Burkina Faso

OBJECTIVE

The project aims to promote inclusive societies by ensuring the protection of vulnerable populations, particularly internally displaced persons and migrants in Burkina Faso.

CONTEXT

Burkina Faso is facing significant socioeconomic and environmental challenges, which directly affect access to essential services for the population—particularly women, children, migrants, and people in situations of internal mobility. One of the most affected services is civil registration, where limited access hinders the recognition of fundamental rights and social inclusion, especially for individuals without identity documents.

This initiative aims to strengthen the provision of basic services for resident communities, migrants, and internally mobile populations. Through staff training, awareness-raising campaigns, and direct support for birth registration, the project seeks to ensure the right to legal identity and promote inclusion, contributing to more equitable conditions for the entire population. Special attention is given to the widespread dissemination of information and good practices, including through the involvement of networks of public actors and civil society, in order to expand access channels and enhance community participation.

MMI ACTIVITIES
  • Training of healthcare workers and Basic Health Agents (ASBC);
  • Advocacy meetings with the Directors of Health Districts and the PDS of the five target municipalities;
