Project goals The project intends to contribute to improving resilience in the vulnerable population of the Inhambane Province, in particular by improving the level of food safety and the mother-and-child nutritional situation in the Morrumbene District.

Direct beneficiaries of the project are:

  • 60 health agents working with mother-and-child healthcare trained
  • 45 community socio-healthcare agents trained
  • Up to approximately 8,000 mothers and pregnant women benefitting from antenatal and post-partum examinations, and from services offered by the "mae de espera" centers (antenatal clinics)
  • 10,000 children examined by mobile healthcare teams
  • 225 vulnerable children assisted nutritionally
  • 450 women and 1,950 children supported with micronutrients and medicaments

The project promotes educational, socio-healthcare, animation and social activities; it is therefore targeted at the families and related communities of the Morrumbene District, whose entire population includes approximately 140,000 individuals.
